Sarah McLachlan - Answer

The memory of choosing not to fight.

I will never get tired of this album.

I’m not really sure why but I feel like right before and right after a big change in my life I feel really sad in general and it’s the worst feeling. Maybe it’s just change that gets me, but it’s such a hard feeling to shake.

Just a quick recap of the last two weeks:
- I moved into my first apartment that is completely brand new and I love my roommates. This transition would have been perfect were it not for the massive leak coming from my bathroom ceiling that took 5 days to fix (and is still not completely fixed btw). And yes, this place was just built. Luckily there is an open bedroom so I’ve been using that bathroom.
- Tomorrow is my first day of school at Texas A&M and I am so nervous. Part of me still can’t believe I’m actually here, but I am so ready to actually have a college experience.
- I saw Nickel Creek this past Sunday in Austin and it was the best live performance I have ever been to. If you want some quality music written entirely by the naturally talented musicians that play and sing the chords/words then please go to YouTube and type in Nickel Creek. I promise listening to their music will change your perspective on what it means to a be true musician that is completely in tune with an instrument. A few of my personal Nickel Creek favorites are When You Come Back Down, The Fox, When in Rome, Spit on a Stranger, This Side, Sweet Afton, 21st of May, Scotch and Chocolate, and the Smoothie Song. (I know that’s a lot, but seriously take the time to listen to their music!)
- Truth be told, this Thursday will mark 3 years with my best friend and just the concept of this occasion is so mind boggling to me. THREE YEARS!
- Today I finished my first 1000-piece puzzle, and I felt very accomplished.
- Oh and I don’t know why I’m so nervous about school tomorrow but I am. Positive vibes would be much appreciated.
- Oh and did I mention that my first day of school is actually on Labor Day?! I mean who does that?!?!?

Ever got so high that you’ve died? Me neither, keep smoking weed.

The Hand Song

Album: Nickel Creek | Country | 2000

The boy only wanted to give Mother something
And all of her roses had bloomed
Looking at her as he came rushing in with them
Knowing her roses were doomed
All she could see were some thorns buried deep
And the tears that he cried as she tended his wounds

And she knew it was love
It was one she could understand
He was showing his love
And that’s how he hurt his hands
He still remembers that night as child
On his mother’s knee
She held him close and she opened her bible
And quietly started to read
And seeing a picture of Jesus he cried out
"Momma, he’s got some scars just like me."

And he knew it was love
It was one he could understand
He was showing his love
And that’s how he hurt his hands

Now the boy’s grown and moved out on his own
When Uncle Sam comes along
A foreign affair, but our young men were there
And luck had his number drawn
It wasn’t that long till our hero was gone
He gave to a friend what he learned from the cross

But they knew it was love
It was one they could understand
He was showing his love
And that’s how he hurt his hands

It was one they could understand
He was showing his love
And that’s how he hurt his hands

'Cause I dont know who I am, who I am without you
All I know is that I should
And I don’t know if I could stand another hand upon you
